Christian Mindfulness Forum

Weekend Retreat 20-22 September 2024

Douai Abbey, Berkshire RG7 5TQ

In this year’s Forum we will explore the theme of ’The Golden Rule’, which appears across religious traditions.

In Christianity this is ’The Great Commandment’ taught by Jesus (Matthew 22.37-39), and we shall examine how our practice of mindfulness relates to this ’Summary of the Law’.

The Forum is a practical event where you will learn mindfulness tools and meditation. Mindfulness tools enable you to stay present throughout the day. With mindfulness you can be aware that your many thoughts and emotions aren’t necessarily true! With Christian Mindfulness we can come back to the presence of God at any time.

Meditation develops these tools. It’s also a form of contemplative prayer.

The Forum will be lead by Martin Zetter and Br Christopher Greener OSB, one of the monk’s of Douai Abbey. But it is a Forum, so you will also hear from others on how they practice Christian Mindfulness.

There will be the opportunity to ask questions throughout.

You are also welcome to attend as many of the Divine Offices, sung by the monks in the Abbey Church, as you wish. Some people like them all and others go to none.

As the accommodation may be limited to 12 participants staying in the Abbey guesthouse, I recommend early booking, unless you live nearby and are coming as a day-participant.

In either case booking is via the Guestmaster at Douai Abbey. Use the button below to make your booking.
