Monastic Mindfulness Course

November - December 2020

Recommended Reading

It is not necessary for you to purchase any books or other materials, since all of the materials that you will need for the course will be provided online. The course is based on the book “Mindfulness : A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World” by Mark Williams and Danny Penman (piatkus press). You may find it useful to purchase a copy of this book and read it over the six weeks of the course.

Another book that you might find of interest is “Christian Mindfulness” by Peter Tyler (scm press).

Please consider supporting your local bookshop. As you may know, you can order online and collect from many local bookshops using Hive - https://www.hive.co.uk

Your objectives

Please write down the reason that you have booked onto this course. By this I mean what you would like to achieve. It is useful to note down our goals in starting, so we are clear about where we want to get to. For example, your goal might be “I would like to feel less stressed” or “I would like to feel more focused” or “I would like to feel peace in order to be able to go deeper into my faith”. Whatever you feel that your goal is, please note it down; either on a piece of paper or on a device where you can review it regularly. Please do this review each morning during course. Take a look at the goal you have written down. This is best done first thing in the morning when you get up. (No need to send this to us, it is just for your own reference.)
